For many “creatives”, inspiration can come from almost anything! A photographer could be walking down the street, see something that catches their eye, and boom; 1,000 likes on Instagram! Creativity can be expressed in many forms and fashions. Are you worried that your Instagram may be lacking in creativity? Don’t stress! Here are 3 ways to become more creative on Instagram:

Step #1: Flex Your Creativity Muscle

It’s just like working out. The more you exercise: the stronger you become. So, exercise your creativity muscle and soon you’ll be flexin’ on them, haters! A super simple way to spice up your Instagram page is to consider hashtag projects. Conveniently, Instagram offers the Weekend Hashtag Project! Every week, a new theme is uncovered, allowing users to tap into their creative side and spend the weekend taking a photo that fits in. After the weekend is over, Instagram will pick their favorite photographers and share the photos with their followers! Do you want to find out more about the Weekend Hashtag Project? Log into your Instagram app and search #weekendhashtagproject. Let your creativity shine!

Step #2: Find Your Time

Ring Ring! Creativity is calling! Are you going to answer or send it to voicemail? Finding time for creativity can be a bit of a challenge, especially for those that have careers, children, or other things that take up most of our time each day. Figure out your most productive time of the day and stick to it. Whether it’s during your 30-minute lunch break, in line at the grocery store, or in the middle of your Organic Chemistry lecture on structure and bonding (pay attention of course -- that degree won’t get itself), take a moment to tap into your inner creative.

Step 3: Never Stop Learning

There is no such thing as a know-it-all! Even the wisest, most educated people learn new things. Einstein, one of the greatest scientists of all time once said, “He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.” The world is full of knowledge. You can always learn something new so don’t leave it up to chance. Pick up a book, watch a video, or travel (safely). Just do something! Gaining new experiences will spark your creativity. Learning affects your mood and outlook on life. This means there is a correlation between learning and your level of happiness and personal satisfaction! Spend some time focusing on your growth, health, and happiness, and let your mind wander. There is creativity inside of you that is dying to get out!
